The next leg of our journey will see us travel to France via Spain, completing a marathon during the 24 hour ferry crossing: I don’t have the best “sea legs”! We will arrive at our start point of the French Camino,St John Pied de Port, and begin the 780km trek towards Santiago de Compostella, arriving on 30th April 2020. Continuing the Caminos, we will then drive to Lisbon to start the Portuguese Camino. Walking 17 days will see us cover this 640km distance, as we walk the coastal path back to Santiago de Compestella.
Total miles trekked – 1,086.5
You may ask “why are you driving to Lisbon to walk back to Santiago”?, the answer is simple. The Caminos offer the opportunity to slow down the pace of life, and to reflect. We simply do not want to walk against the flow of pilgrims on these routes, but to walk with them on whichever path they choose. Once we’ve completed both Caminos, we will take on marathons in Bilbao and La Rochelle on our way to St Malo, to begin the journey back towards England on the ferry to Jersey.
